Bal Kumari
Local priests say that Balkumari was married but her husbands identity remained a secret so the notion of her being a consort of Bhairab is dismissed by them.
A Newari pagoda style temple located about 800m east of Patan Durbar Square lies the mysterious Balkumari temple. Dedicated to the Kumari Goddess it was built in the 17th century though some say it dates back to the 7th century. 20 years ago the Balkumari temple was surrounded by green fields and hedgerows. Today the city has surrounded the temple. Thankfully the temple still has a lot of breathing space and it's surrounded by some stone pathways next to a main road. It's a bit of a walk to get there but if you have an interest in the Kumari, deity statues or have your own transport it's worth seeking out.
