In Hindu tradition, Kalasa contains the primeval water carried by Brahma, the creator. In Buddhist iconography, the Kalasa helds Amrit, the water or the elixir of immortality. It appears with Padmapani. It is also one of the auspicious sign and symbolizes plenty among the eight Astamangalas.
