Naga Kanya :
Naga Kanya means in Sanskrit the virgin, the maiden of the Nagas. This picture refers to a beautiful Buddhist tale narrated in the XIIth chapter of the Lotus Sutra where a Naga princess, daughter of the Ocean (Sagara) comes to bodhicitta at the tender age of eight. Before an incredulous assembly of bodhisattvas (because she was so young, and a woman), the Nagini offers then to the Buddha a jewel, said to be worth thousands of worlds. When the bodhisattvas tell her that the Buddha accepted her jewel immediately, she told them to watch her become a buddha even more rapidly. The common interpretation of this myth is that her jewel was in truth her very own life, worth indeed thousands of worlds, and the gift of which was the ultimate price, whether it be spontaneous or the work of an entire life.
Full Gold Gilded with Antique Patina.
The Naga Kanya has full gold plated antique finishing. This finishing is a combination of fire mercury gold plating and antique finishing. This traditional technique involves the application of a genuine layer of gold onto the Naga Kanya using the time-honored process of mercury gold plating. Skilled artisans meticulously handle the amalgamation of gold with mercury, ensuring precise application and a truly authentic result. To enhance its charm further, the Naga Kanya undergoes an antique finishing process. This meticulous treatment adds a touch of age and character to the gold plating, creating a sense of antiquity. Through careful craftsmanship and the application of specialized techniques, the Naga Kanya acquires a beautifully aged appearance that adds depth and uniqueness to its overall aesthetic. Lost-Wax System
This Others of Naga Kanya is made by the process of the Lost Wax system. This is a very complicated, time consuming and historic process of making metal sculptures.Which is why it is sometimes called Precision Casting as well. Hence the sculptures made by this process are comparatively expensive. There are many new, advanced and less time consuming methods of casting metal sculptures available as well. But due to the benefits provided by the traditional lost wax system in quality control and customization, we prefer the Loss wax system over Ceramic molding, or sand casting to make our Others.
Below we have tried to illustrate the process of making a loss wax system statue: Read More . . .
Iconography :
Naga Kanya is usually seen as a very beautiful young girl in sited position, holding precious jewels with her both hand in offering posture, She has 5 headed snake on top of her head as a crown and wings representing she has the ability to fly.
